Wing Chun (also spelled Wing Tsun and Ving Tsun) is a complete system of self-defense which works for everyone regardless of size, strength, gender or athleticism.

The goal of Wing Chun is to teach practical self-defense in the shortest amount of time possible. Its techniques are based on positioning, leverage and simple physics, allowing the student to borrow the opponent’s strength and turn it against them.

Practitioners of Wing Chun employ kicks, punches, elbow and knee strikes, grappling, throwing, and anti-grappling / anti-ground fighting techniques. Wing Chun is the”original mixed martial art”. It  has been evolving and  combining the use of these techniques for the past 250 years.Wing Chun was founded in China during the Ching Dynasty and passed on as an exclusive fighting method until the mid-20th century. At that time, the late Grandmaster Yip Man brought the art from mainland China to Hong Kong in 1949. By the 1960’s many students of Grandmaster Yip Man, such as the late Bruce Lee, began teaching and the art spread throughout Europe and North America.

Today Wing Chun is practiced by close to a million practitioners world-wide in over 64 countries. In Europe, nearly 75% of the military special forces and anti-terrorist units either teach Wing Chun or incorporate it into their close-quarter battle (CQB) training programs.The modern system of Wing Chun is a systematic training method which allows the student to learn quickly.

This training method is unique to Wing Chun and brings students to a real level of self-defense skill in a short period of time. This training will help students to develop core strength, flexibility, reflexes and co-ordination.

A three-part series leveraging Wing Chun kung fu defense techniques that will:
 
  • Increase situational awareness and understanding of the most common attacks
  • Teach basic escape moves to surprise your aggressor
  • Increase confidence in range of motion and ability to protect one’s self at a moment’s notice
Wing Chun kung fu is one of the most practical and efficient martial arts for self-defense. Leveraged by most police units and special forces military units around the world, its technique can be used on a moment’s notice with no warm-ups or stretching needed. Instructor Si-Fu Jim Gillentine has more than 25 years of experience teaching Wing Chun to individuals regardless of age, gender, size, strength or fitness level.
